Acidophilus is a species, not a product: Lactobacillus acidophilus. Our Original and Vegetarian labels list two strains of it, La-14 and NCFM, among eight in total, together with Bifidobacterium lactis strains, Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG. The only difference between the two formulas is the capsule: the Vegetarian one is plant cellulose and water.

If the bottle in your cupboard is an older one, its own label is the one to go by: read its strain list and its date. The current labels print 14 billion CFU per two-capsule serving at the time of manufacture, and both say a cool, dry place is fine until you open the bottle, then the refrigerator is best.
